After deliberating in executive session Monday, Nov. 8, the Bethel Selectboard formally decided that the town will not appeal the October ruling from the Vermont Dept.

In Bethel, 596 votes were cast for Senator Kerry, while 400 votes were cast to re-elect President Bush. Bethel maintains its bellwether status by predicting how the rest of Vermont would vote in the national election.

Ground Broken for Police Barracks

On Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26, Governor Jim Douglas and other dignitaries, wielding golden shovels, broke the ground for a new $2-million public safety facility at the current Bethel Barracks in Royalton.

This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication in 1904 of the best-selling novel "The Wood-Carver of ‘Lympus" by Bethel’s Mary Ellen Waller.
